Red Lodge Mountain APRS
Red Lodge Mountain APRS
Howdy gang - I mailed the Red Lodge Ski area APRS which will cover central Montana to Butch KE7FEL and he will get it operational at his repeater site in the next few days. Look for REDLDG Digipeater Symbol on your APRS Maps and check out the coverage of the new site. Thanks Butch for your support of APRS and Ham Radio. The Maxtrac and KPC-3 TNC were given to me so I gave them both to Butch with no strings attached. Enjoy everyone !! Gee Haw !!!! Cheers Bill K7MT
Re: Red Lodge Mountain APRS
Hi Bill.
The package arrived today and I will hook it up tomorrow to check the antenna and I am sure everything will be okay, and it will be up and running at Red Lodge Mountain, Sunday afternoon.
Thanks, a bunch.

Re: Red Lodge Mountain APRS
Update !!!!!! A week later than planned, but the REDLDG APRS digipeater is on the air above Red Lodge, Montana at the Ski area. Thanks Butch KE7FEL for providing the antenna, coax, and power for the APRS digipeater (Mactrac 136 - 162 25 watts and 16 pin connector). This will provide excellent APRS coverage in central Montana to N7VR-1 Jim's Igate in Billings, Mt.
I connected to the KA-Node REDLDG-7 via MACPAS-7, TOSTON-7, and SHEEPM-7 and the had a excellent link from Helena to Billings. The KA-Node is part of the APRS KPC-3 setup for remote administrator log in to the APRS Digipeaters for updates or corrections. During an emergency it could be used for packet mail backup...
Remember it is not just APRS for moving vechicles. Telemetry voltages, Winlink messaging, messaging, and satellite APRS just to name a few. There are many other possibilities out there just waiting to have fun. Gee Haw !!!

Re: Red Lodge Mountain APRS
Howdy again gang. On my trip back from Minnesota last wee, REDLDG picked me up north of Hardin, Mt beaconed me into N7VR-1 (Jim's Igate in Bilings) all the way to Big Timber. From there, K7YD's APRS digipeater on Sheep worked great to Bozeman. Red Lodge is doing a very nice job covering to the West, North, East to Hysham, and SE to Hardin. Thank Butch KE7FEL again for all your support!! Woo Hoo !!!! Cheers Bill
