Does anybody know of any plans to hook SWT up to either Echolink or IRLP? That would be way cool for me to enable accessing it remotely...

If it's a matter of resources of some sort I'd be happy to help.

Thanks,
Bill - WA7NWP

Hi Bill, I haven't heard of any plans at this time. The plans are to install new radios etc when weather permits. However I am sure it would be a simple matter for someone to put an Echolink into operation. If someone out there reading this would entertain running an Echolink node to connect to the 146.64 repeater that would be great, let us know. All that is required is a computer that could be dedicated for Echolink, a radio, and an interface between the radio and computer.

Hello Bill... Or... anyone else interested,

On the question of having Echolink and or IRLP on the Sweetgrass/ Mt. Royal ( 146.640 ) repeater. I am in the process of doing just that. I've got a dedicated computer running a Linux variant ( Ubuntu ) that as soon as I get an interface built, will provide Echolink AND IRLP capability, 24/7 on our repeater up here on the hi line. How soon this will be done... depends on how long the " honey do" list is on the fridge door.. Hopefully with winter coming on and outside work is cut off, I can devote more time to it. Another hope is that the repeater which has had some strange issues of turning off all by itself and taking siestas for several days or even a couple weeks at a time, then coming back on line, will stay running through the cold/snowy months. As Jim ( N7YO) stated, there are new radios earmarked for the site but getting up to the top of the mountain in the winter can be brutal if not plain impossible. I was up there to re set the power supply and do a visual on the system a month ago and it was brutal cold and a pretty good dusting of snow then.
