Howdy gang, I got a nice note from Butch in Billings, Mt. and he indicated that the YVC (Yellowstone Valley Club) is going to put a APRS digi at their repeater site on Red Lodge Mountain. I want to thank the YVC club for the APRS digipeater as I was going to give one to Butch to put at his site. I look forward seeing the digi on Grizzly maybe when I head down form my grandsons graduation the end of May.
That leaves just Hudson Bay Divide with the Cutbank, Mt. club. Roy and Cliff are doing a project to put the repeaters on a table and make a spot for the HUDBAY APRS digipeater. I am giving the Cutbank hams a Motorola MaxTrac, KPC-3 TNC, and a Motorola Power supply for the digi and they are putting up the antenna/coax.
Everyone have a safe summer.

Howdy gang - Looks like are sticking to the original plan and putting the Grizzly Peak APRS Digipeater at Butches site about 100 yards from the Yellowstone Valley Amateur Radio Clubs site on Red Lodge Mountain.
Butch said he has a battery charger on his 440 repeater so we are planning on running the APRS digi on full time battery. I will get that worked out. Hope to have it operational in one Amateur Time Unit (ATU).

I spent yesterday, 23 May 2015, working with K7JAQ (Roy) and KE7QIP Cliff up on Hudson Bay Divide and got their donated APRS digipeater and antenna installed and operational. HUDBAY, 146.820HB, and 443.375HB are beaconing and looking good for the last 24 hours. Igates hearing HUDBAY are Calgary, Great Falls W7XY, Helena K7MT, Kevin KC7JQP, and KE7UFB in Havre. It is filling in a large area with APRS coverage in NW Montana east and south of the continental divide.
I plan on making another trip to Cutbank and get a tour of the small Air Museum that Roy helps maintain. He said I would love seeing all that old military hardware. I am especially interested in an old 1940's Uadcock (4 vertical antennas) HFDF (High Frequency Direction Finding)that is operational. Woo Hoo !! I think I will schedule my trip and also go to Nanton, Ab on one of the days they roll out the Avro Lancaster and fire up all 4 Merlin Rolls-Royce engines.... Ye Ha !!!
Cheers all and maybe some of you will see the new digipeater HUDBAY on your APRS system..
