Winlink RMS Packet State DES

Howdy everyone,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all from Bill in Helena, Mt.
Lynn K7WGR and I did the monthly testing of SHARES, MARS, and Amateur station at the State DES Fort Harrison this morning.
The DES Packet station on 145.010/AEA PK-232 PSK now includes a Winlink RMS Packet Port KM7DES-10 that will connect to the Winlink EMAIL system. Station is on backup power and also has a satellite link in case the internet goes down so a perfect place for EMCOM (Emergency Communications). It is listed as a ECOM requiring monthly tests with the Winlink Folks. It will be on the air until the third week of Jan, 2018 24/7 to test software/hardware. If all works well for the testing period, we will decide if it will remain operational 24/7/365.
KM7DES-1 the mail drop remains the same for sending packet messages to the DES.
We also added a Pactor III Modem to the Amateur station for HF EMAIL to the Winlink System.
Winlink is used quite a bit on the Montana Traffic Net (3910). Check out the site www.winlink.org and check out what the system/programs are capable of doing. It is a pretty neat system and it Rocks !!!
Cheers Bill K7MT Helena, Mt.
