Posted: Sat Feb 17, 2024 10:59 am
The Great Falls 2024 "Spring Thaw" Swap-meet is coming!
Sponsored by the Great Falls Area Amateur Radio Club (GFAARC)
Date: Saturday, 04 May 2024
Time: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: Cascade County DES Building
521 1st Avenue Northwest
Great Falls, MT
(in the parking lot BEHIND the building. Use the gate entrance from 6th Street NW)
Tailgate swap meet. No cost to attend or to sell!
Coffee and light refreshments will be available.
This year our theme is "Makers". We are looking for folks to demonstrate simple radio-related projects. One example is how to construct a folding 2-element yagi antenna for 2-meters that can help your HT reach-out to distant repeaters. Expand your contact range beyond what the basic "rubber duckie" antenna that came with your "Handie Talkie" (HT) can do!
Additional activities include:
-Equipment Test Station: 12-volt power supply, watt meter, and dummy load so you can test basic radio functions and power output.
-All About Amateur Radio: Bruce (KA2ODP) will have his display and information on how to get your Amateur Radio license.
-The National Weather Service (NWS), Great Falls Office, will be presenting a Weather Spotters course. Learn how to spot and report severe weather before it reaches you!
-Plus other activities to be announced.
For more information or to sign-up to do a "Maker" presentation, Please contact Rod (AE7JJ) at stang65@bresnan.net
