K7MT RMS Packet Station Back on 145.010

Post by K7MT »

Howdy from Bill K7MT in Helena,

My RMS packet station K7MT-10 is back on line on 145.010. I had it on 144.970 for the last couple of years for reason I will not mention. Anyway, situation I believe has been resolved/removed so I feel it is ok to put the RMS Packet connection to Winlink back on the local packet frequency. Donnie, W7XY, also have a RMS Packet station in Great Falls for Winlink. Thanks Donnie.

Note, my RMS Packet station only monitors/saves RMS Packet connections to K7MT-10 in its log file. I do not have a maildrop on my Alinco DR-135 with the EJ-41U internal tnc. Node owners monitor and save all the packet traffic on the system.

Cheers and enjoy packet as it is meant to be... Woo Hoo !!!

GM Gang,

I did some testing of the RMS Packet to winlink (K7MT-10) on 145.010 yesterday and all is well. N7PTM (Bob) also checked into the Winlink Server last night and retrieved a Winlink e-mail I posted to him. We will do some additional testing along with Donnie W7XY's RMS Packet station in Great Falls tomorrow on a scheduled exercise in western Montana. This is the main reason I moved it back to 145.010 was for the scheduled exercise in western Montana. We plan to test voice, packet, APRS, and linked vhf/UHF repeaters for sending/receiving messages to the State DES.

I had some concerns with Windows 7 on the new/used computer I am using for the APRS Igate and the RMS Packet gateway to Winlink. But the programs are all 32 bit and run just fine on Windows 7 64 bit. I upgraded to a IBM T400, 8gb Mem, 128SSD hard drive, and docking station as we are working on a Amateur Radio HM-Mesh in the Helena valley. My old Pentium computer was just not up to the task of running the mesh/camera along with APRS Igate, Weather Station, Internet Connection 5.8GHZ, and RMS Packet to Winlink.

It is all about having fun and that is what amateur radio is all about..

Cheers Bill K7MT
