HF APRS Packet Montana

Post by K7MT »

Howdy gang,

About a month ago I put K7MT-11 HF 300 baud APRS Packet Igate operational APRSISCE on 10147.600 USB. Then about two weeks ago, I added a program called APRS Messenger which does 4 digital APRS modes on HF 10147.600 USB. HF 300 baud using the UZ7HO software modem and APRS messenger both use my signalink USB together with just one radio (IC-706MKIIG) It has been a fun experiment and I have the Igate operational daily when I am here.

This morning, 02/25/2015, I put a test Robust Packet (600 baud) APRS with the KM7DES SCS PTCIIex modem (ex is for extra which is Robust Packet) at Ft. Harrision on 10147.300. I am using APRSISCE software and a B%W Folded Dipole. It will be on the air as a standalone station to check rx/tx coverage. There are station in Australia, Japan, Europe, and South Africa on the air. It is a bit of a dream, but hope they can be heard and we can be heard outside the U.S.A. Mike Stapp at the State of Montana DES said it was ok to run this test as I am the custodian of KM7DES.

Link to aprs.fi to check out the Robust Packet station KM7DES-6 information.

Howdy gang,

KM7DES-6 Robust Packet on 10147.300 igate its first over seas stations last week. Two stations from Italy made the 5000 plus mile trip to the radio.tnc at the state DES. So far I have received excellent reports from mobile and two ships which also use robust packet. I will leave it on the air for the rest of the month.
