Lewis and Clark Trail On-The-Air (04-19 June 2022)

Post by KA2ODP/7 »

The Lewis and Clark Trail On-The-Air is a special event that commemorates the historic Lewis and Clark trail. The trail covers 4,900 miles and crosses through 16 different states. The trail starts at Camp Dubois, in Illinois. The trail ends on the Oregon coast, south of the Columbia River, at the Fort Clatsop site.

The special event is sponsored by the Clark County Amateur Radio Club in Vancouver, Washington. It will run from 4-19 June 2022. Various Amateur Radio clubs across all 16 states will be participating at different times during the event period.

I have attached a .pdf document with the basic background information for the special event.

More information is available at the special event web site: https://lctota.org

The Great Falls Area Amateur Radio Club will operate from the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center near Great Falls during the weekend of 11-12 June 2022. We will have the club's communications trailer parked in the parking lot of the Interpretive Center, with the antenna trailer set-up behind it in an open field area.

The Great Falls Area Amateur Radio Club (GFAARC) will be active again this weekend for the Lewis & Clark Trail on the Air event.

If you are seeking a Montana contact for the event, we will have our club station active on Saturday and Sunday, 18-19 June 2022.

Look for us on 14.280 MHz and 21.360 MHz. Our special event call sign is W7M.

Band conditions will determine which frequency will be in use at any one time. We will start on 14.280 MHz, shift to 21.360 MHz as 15 meters opens up, then go back to 14.280 MHz as the propagation on 15 meters drops off in the late afternoon.
