I was approached by one of the local people in the Great Falls Bicycle Club asking for communications support for an upcoming race that starts in Sun River, goes through Augusta, Choteau, Fairfield, back to Sun River. I will most likely be out of town as well. Bu t maybe some others will be in town. We need to know the logistics first. Like how many check points etc etc. to see if there enough manning to handle it.

Rex,
Can you also provide more information on the "bike race"?
In the past we have supported a "bike-a-thon" fundraiser for a non-profit organization. What type of "bike race" will this be? A commercial operation with prizes for the top finishers? Or just a day-outing for a local bicycle club? I guess the "race" part has me concerned. What type of coordination have they done with the local Sheriff's department concerning this race on public roads? Is this something they do every year, or is this the first time for this particular route?

Bruce The local bike club puts on a Bicycle road race every spring. This race has the Start /Finish at Simms from there going past Fairfield and on to Choteau were they turn around. The Sheriff's office is always informed in advance. Bike Clubs from around the State will be there. The longest distance is for the Cat.1&2 then a shorter distance along the same coarse for the Cat.3&4. Then if they choose to have it the shortest distance for Citizens. This is NOT A FUN RIDE like THE TOUR DE CURE. These guys mean bussiness. Riding pace lines, drafting It is really Technicial. Now After that is said I'm sorry however we to will be at the Poker Run.

Rex- Have you heard any more about the Bike Race on the 23Rd. of May for Bruce and some of the others not going to Lincoln?
Comm support for Bike Race
I talked to a member of the Bike club today and found that the ride on the 23Rd. is just that. It is a Century Ride, how ever some may race it most will just ride out and back. The Club Bike race and hill climb is on May 12Th. The race is from Belt to highwood, back to 4 corners right turn toward Great Falls turn around and back to BELT. The timed Hill Climb goes from Centerville school past Stockett, and up the Big HILL turn around and return to Centerville.

Hummmm, May 12th is a Tuesday. It's going to be a little tough to get very many people to help. But then again it isn't a weekend.
