Mount Royal Repeater Update

Post by N7YO »

Here are some update about the 146.64 repeater:

1. As soon as conditions permit, Don and Jerry from Havre are (hopefully) going to go to the mountain and pull the electronics. We will go through them thoroughly, and the ID will be changed to W7SWT.

2. Antenna. It is likely that the reason the repeater is currently off the air is an antenna problem for the last big storm. We need to replace the antenna to get above the Bresnan dishes. I would welcome suggestions or donation of a heavy duty antenna. If we consider a fiberglass co-linear for the top of the tower, I think we should try to stay in the 6db range, as anything bigger than that will be just too difficult to get mounted.

3. Treasurer: Ken Campbell KC7NY has served many years as the treasurer and would like to be replaced. The job has these primary duties:
- Maintain/balance the checking account with BearPaw credit union
- Collect dues/donations
- Pay the power bill monthly for the digipeater
- Pay Demerest the annual right of way payment
- Complete the annual corporation listing on the state website.

I welcome any input or ideas on any of these topics.

That's great ! It will be good to have a wide coverage repeater in this area again. I'd like to offer my assistance to anyone who works on the repeater. I've got a diesel 4x4 truck ( no grass fire issues),generator, a large shop full of tools, welders and other equipment. We have a tire machine and balancer ( Mt. Royal is hard on tires ). I am free most evenings and weekends except, when we are doing wheat harvest which can make doing anything in August difficult unless it rains us out. I live on the Whitlash Rd about 8 NM southeast of the mountain ( I can see the antenna's and buildings from my house w/binoculars ). If anyone goes up and wants help, gets in a jam or needs something fabricated or repaired.... just let me know or come by. PM me and I'll give you my cell number and directions to the house and shop.
