GFAARC Meeting Dates and Location Information for 2013

The Great Falls Area Amateur Radio Club (GFAARC) meets the first Monday of every month at 7:00 PM.

The meeting location is in the conference room at the Cascade County DES building. Parking is behind the building, inside the fenced compound.

The DES building is located at 521 1st Avenue NW. This is the former location of the County Weed and Mosquito Management office, as well as the County vehicle shop (both of which have moved out to their new facilities near Manchester).

After-hours access to the DES building is through the vehicle yard on the North side of the building. Look for the large chain link fence gate off of 6th Street NW. If you are coming from the direction of Central Avenue West, go past the Salvation Army thrift store and turn right just before Chuck's Chinese Restaurant & Casino. Look for the park bench seat with the yellow back rest advertising "Sherlock's Home" on the right side of the street. Turn right just BEFORE this park bench.

Park up by the building, but remember two important things:

-DO NOT BLOCK THE GAS PUMPS! These are used at all hours of the day and night by Sheriff's Department patrol vehicles.

-DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE DOORS! These are used at all hours of the day and night by the Cascade County Search and Rescue group.

The only exception to the "first Monday of each month" meeting night is when a holiday is involved. Therefore, please note that the September 2013 meeting will be held on Monday, 9 September 2013. This is due to the first Monday, September 2nd, being Labor Day. We will delay our monthly meeting by one week so everyone can enjoy the Labor Day weekend!

Due to a short notice and urgent Fire District meeting at the DES building on the evening of 3 June 2013, we have shifted our monthly meeting to a different location just for tonight. The June 2013 GFAARC meeting will be held at the Cascade County Sheriff's office up on Gore Hill.

Directions: When coming out of Great Falls southbound on I-15, take the airport exit. At the top of the exit hill get in the middle lane (not the left turn lane or the right turn lane). Cross over straight ahead onto the Frontage Road. The Sheriff's office is visible straight ahead on the left side of the road, about a 1/4-mile from the airport exit. There will be someone on hand in the lobby area to show you the way to the meeting room.

This change of meeting location is only for this one time, 3 June 2013. Next month will be back at the DES building for our usual monthly meeting.

The monthly VE test session will take place at the usual location (DES building) at the usual time (7:00 PM) and on the scheduled date (4 June 2013).
