The Montana Section of the ARRL is sponsoring a NWS taught SKY WARN STORM SPOTTER class for all Montana Hams. While radar shows what is occuring in the atmosphere, radar does not see what is actually happening on the ground. The NWS needs spotters to ground truth weather events.
